Government has transferred Shs 4.4 trillion to all 10,589 parishes nationwide over the past five years, as revolving capital. Ugandans who were previously outside the money economy are now engaged in money-making enterprises.
How it reaches enterprises
Funds are channelled through Parish Development Model SACCOs, which lend to their members and revolve the repayments. The SACCOs also provide technical assistance — training, mentorship and coaching, extension and advisory services, and support with processing and standards compliance.
